Thanks for the php articles. I hate php for the same reasons you do, but I find it a very good language for getting something up and going quickly.
Another thing you did not mention was the horrid name convention of the php commands. Sometimes there are up to three commands that do the same thing.
When I use php I feel like I am riding a bike with training wheels on :S

Great article on the macbook/linux setup. I just got a macbook pro Rev C with nvidia graphics card - i'm very psyched to get gentoo up and running!

Thank you for the article on Java and dates, very informative. I use PHP a lot for my work. It has got problems but you can get things done quickly if you are strict with yourself.
